Optional details are optional, but I love a good chatty letter.  I want to give you something to latch on to but don't feel constrained.

 

Remember, whatever you write, I will love!  I know 2020 2021 has been rough on a lot of people, so please don't stress out too much because Yuletide will be wonderful!  It's definitely been full of challenges for me, so let's celebrate with awesome fic!  These are a mix - 2 repeat requests, 2 new requests (and one is BRAAAND NEW).

 

 

Crossovers are definitely welcome, as are AUs!  If you cross it over with Clue or an Agatha Christie fandom/detective (Poirot, Marple, Ariadne Oliver, And Then There Were None) I'm good with anything - otherwise, see my preferences - cracky or serious crossovers welcome.  I also welcome any and all crossovers involving Nancy Drew.  

 

My blanket DNW are nominated character death (1 exception for Clue Master Detective), cruelty/death to animals and children, graphic/explicit/sexual violence.  Please especially do not reference cat death (not canon for any of these) - I unfortunately lost my best Siamese girl to bone cancer after 16 wonderful years and it's still tender.

I do enjoy the trappings of the Christmas holiday (mistletoe, gifts, hot chocolate, oh no we're snowed in together and must stay warm somehow... or we're trapped with a killer, family togetherness, snowball fights, traveling over the river and through the terminal) but do not require them.  If they work though, by all means, take advantage of it.

Clue Master Detective (Board Game) 

 

Sergeant Gray (Clue Master Detective), Mr. Boddy (Clue Master Detective), Miss Peach (Clue Master Detective), Madame Rose (Clue Master Detective)

 

So we played a round of this game recently and I immediately decided I needed it for Yuletide. What is going on at this country house? I'm particularly interested in Miss Peach and Madame Rose. I'm down for including "regular" characters, or taking a movie-style take on it, but I love the newer expanded setting.

 

Mr. Boddy can be an exception to my “no nominated character death” DNW.

 

So this is an expanded version of the game, with more people, more weapons, and more places (13).  The 13^th room is the Cloak Room and in the game it can never be the scene of the crime.  Feel free to change that.  It also has a feature where you can “snoop” in another player’s hand which got quite heated in our game! 

 

Not really interested in game play, but don’t mind some jokes (also about dragging a character from room to room).

 

Miss Peach is described as arriving without invitation or luggage, announcing she’s Mr. Boddy’s long-lost great-step-niece Georgia.  She decided to take a long vacation in the country (any country) on short notice.  What is she up to?

 

Sergeant Gray is the “local enforcer” making his regular weekly visit to collect funds for the Police Blackmail Awareness program.  He always sees things as black or white.  Does Mr. Boddy know a secret about him?

 

Madame Rose is Mr. Boddy’s eccentric former secretary, Rhoda Rosengarten.  She changed her name when she moved to Hungary to hang out her shingle as a medium.  Supposedly she saw bad things coming for Mr. Boddy and came to warn him, too late.  Or was it?

 

Feel free to integrate with the characters as we know them in the movie/game.  I’m okay with Boddy really being dead, or not really.  I love the house party tensions!  Mix it up with a night like the movie, I know and love that too – and prefer the movie backstories. 

 

Eleanor & Park - Rainbow Rowell 

Park Sheridan, Eleanor Douglas, Jamie Sheridan, Min-Dae Sheridan

 

Give me the AU where Jamie Sheridan uses his status in the neighborhood to put the fear of God into Eleanor's stepfather, or maybe the story where Park does help his mom get Eleanor ready for their wedding day (without seeing her)

 

This is a repeat request from 2016, 2018, 2019 and 2020.  When I first read the book, I was blown away.  I just wanted more of the 80s life here.

 

These are the two prompts that are loudest in my head, but if you think of something else that works, that's awesome too.  What I loved about this novel and these characters was how REAL they were.

 

I really liked Park's dad, who was a little dubious about Eleanor at first (and all the changes in his son), but had no real hesitation about supporting his son doing what Park saw as the right thing.  I really really wanted the scene where he pounded on Eleanor's stepdad.  The whole scene where Park kicks the kid in the face during the fight, and his dad is all “Good job” I love that one too.  Parent like it is the 1980s!

 

I also loved the relationship between the parents - passionate and fun, like the whole interchange about how he'll use whatever language he likes and her threatening to send him to his room.  I want a little of everyone, but show me a little of this relationship.  Maybe post-Eleanor and Park marriage fic?  I also really liked Park's grandparents and Eleanor's relationship with the black girls in her gym class.  I really just wanted MORE.

 

If you go the route about the hairdo, don't let Min-dae make Eleanor too someone she isn't.  One of the lines that caught my eye more this time was how Park with eyeliner was like having the volume turned up to 10 or Ming the Merciless.  What about makeup that turns Eleanor up to 10?

 

The Scoop - London Detection Club 

I really just want some fic about this, with a focus on Geraldine Tracey.

 

Turn the Lonely Bungalow case on its head, or give me a big showy trial (with requisite headlines).

 

For this one, you can kill off Geraldine Tracey or Mr. Hemingway.

 

So working on my letter and realized I did not specify any characters.  I wanted Denis Oliver, Geraldine Tracey and Mr. Hemingway, but not opposed to Beryl.  I don’t think anyone offered it anyway but now you know, and knowing is half the battle (and a different exchange)!

 

This is a multiple repeat request (2014-2020) but if we did not match on it is okay!  On the other hand, maybe the seventh time requesting it will be the charm!  This is one I will keep requesting until someone writes it! 

 

I did get a lovely story for the fandom for Juletide this year that warmed my heart, but I am greedy and want more.

 

All right, so there is a computer game and the novel, but the two are very close.  It's written by the London Detection Club, and is very focused on the newspaper business in 1930s-ish London.  The game is available at Abandonia if you need something to goof off on.  I had the computer game in 1990, and might have actually written my first (very bad) fanfic for it.

 

For "Mr. Tracey" (Hemingway), the book/game ends with him slipping and falling to his death.  Give me another ending, preferably one with a big showy trial that the papers can cover!  (Or even give me another killer who is framing him...)

Or maybe focus on Geraldine Tracey. Maybe he does not successfully kill her, which makes the case quite different (see big showy trial). Maybe she is the killer instead, and leaves his dead body in her bungalow.  (I like the Lonely Bungalow aspect.) I like to keep it in the 30s milieu. Maybe it is not her real name and Beryl actually knows her.  The Juletide story I received played on this aspect and it was great.  I just want more, maybe from Geraldine’s point of view.

 

Denis/Beryl is fun, but I would like to see something more focused on the crime/trial aspect. Maybe Beryl does some more investigating on her own to help him out.

 

Or feel free to drag a Christie sleuth right in.  I am down for Poirot or Marple.  Maybe Miss Silver or Lord Peter Wimsey?

 

Masters of the Universe: Revelation (Netflix 2021) ***SPOILER INFO***

Queen Marlena (MOTU R), Prince Adam | He-Man (MOTU R), Sorceress of Castle Grayskull (MOTU R), Duncan | Man-at-Arms (MOTU R)

 

So I know a lot of fans didn't care for this one but I LOVED it and I need more. I'm a huge Marlena fan, and wanted MORE from her.

 

I just want MORE for this tiny new fandom.   The first five eps are on Netflix, and Season 2 drops November 23.  I’m probably going to sit right down and watch it, but without knowing where they’re going to go after the big cliff we are hanging onto right now, I’d say work with those first 5 eps.

 

I'm on board with Teela/Andra..

 

I am totally here for the idea that Teela becomes the next champion of Eternia, because I kind of felt like that was where the storyline was taking us, although I wasn't expecting the turn the story took. But I also wanted more about the interpersonal relations that just got hinted at.

 

I REALLY wanted more about the interpersonal pieces.  We get the searing moment where Marlena reveals that she KNOWS Adam is He-Man, the moment where Randor learns (I would be totally down for introspection here).  I’d love to see Marlena interacting with Sorceress or Duncan, before or after – how does she feel about Adam being the Champion?  I feel like she might be mad and she totally has that right.  I’m okay with a homesick Marlena as well.

 

Or can we talk about the part where the Sorceress tells Teela that she brought them there so she could see her one last time and we kind of NEVER GO BACK TO THAT?  Go back to that.  PLEASE GO BACK TO THAT.

 

Or Teela becomes Champion in Adam’s place (although please resurrect him)?

 

Or feel free to crossover with the original He-Man or original She-Ra.  (Zarabithia is already starting a fic where Teela, Andra and Evil-Lyn go to 1985 Etheria to find Adora and I am 5000% here for more of THAT!)

 

Dimension hopping or mirror universes are always an option.
