desertvixen: woman reading a book (reading)

It's been awhile.  Unfortunately, I find it much harder to fit in actual books that aren't school related when class is in session.  It's just so much easier to carry my Kindle with me, read while doing chores, in bed, etc.

70. Beverly Gray, Freshman (1934) by Clair Blank - Yes, it's yet another vintage girls' series book, in one of the school settings.  It was entertaining.

71. A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett - Not my first time with this book, but this is the one I was reading to the MiniVixen.  I love the illustrations, and sharing this story with my girl.

72. From Sky Girl to Flight Attendant by Georgia Panter Nielsen - Look at the stewardess/flight attendant profession, specifically the union side.

73. Old Yeller by Fred Gipson - Another classic shared with my child.

74. Apprentice in Death by JD Robb - Solid read, although I don't like the direction the series is taking where Roarke is increasingly involved in the police work side.  She's still an automatic buy-in-hardcover author, but something needs to get shaken up in the series.

75. A Name for Kitty (1948) by Phyllis McGinley - Classic Little Golden Book with cute kitten illustrations.  I found a UBS with a good vintage section at one point.

76. Captain Kangaroo and the Beaver (1972) by Carl Memling - Classic Little Golden Book TV tie-in.  Bought for the animal illustrations.

77. Four Little Kittens (1957) by Kathleen Daly - Classic Little Golden Book with more cute kittens, and how they grow up to be Barn Cats, Ship Cats, Alley Cats and House Cats... why yes, I am a sucker for cute kittens!

78. Masters of the Universe: Theif of Castle Grayskull by McKenzie/Grillo - An 80s tie-in book for He-Man.

79. Mickey Mouse and His Spaceship by Jane Werner - Modern Little Golden Book...in space.

80. The Little Grumpy Cat That Wouldn't by Steph Laberis - Modern Little Golden Book featuring Grumpy Cat.

81. I Am Pusheen the Cat by Claire Belton - Pusheen comics!

82. Pass It On by Sadler/Slack - Cute illustrated book with barnyard animals playing telephone.

83. The Power of a Transformed Wife by Lori Alexander - Admittedly, this was a hate-read so I could review it on Amazon.  The author is one of the people I follow seriously on Free Jinger.  It's one of the ones where if you've read the blog, you've read the book.  (I don't recommend reading either seriously)  I will give her or someone else credit for doing a nice job on the visual design.

84. The Golden Age of Air Travel by Nina Hadaway - Small book on the Golden Age of British flight.  Lovely illustrations.

85. Kay Tracey #5: When The Key Turned by Frances K. Judd (1951) - Another girls' series book, more akin to Nancy Drew than anything else.  The plots and setting are a little less believable than Nancy, but Mildred Wirt worked on both of them.

86. A is for Atom by Greg Paprocki - Great alphabet board book with 1950s inspired illustrations.

87. The Haunted Mansion by Disney - Lovely illustrated book about the Haunted House story.  One of my favorite rides!

88. Disneyland: A Celebration of New Magic and Fond Memories by Kidney/O'Day - Lovely Disneyana book produced for the 60th anniversary.

89. Ever After High #6 Fairy Tail Ending by Suzanne Selfors - Great Ever After High take on the Little Mermaid, and I love how it all plays out, with Meeshell (ha ha) trying to fit in, and a Sea Witch with a daughter not interested in living her mother's story.  Also Apple White being a pain.

90. Disneyland: From Once Upon a Time to Happily Ever After by Jeff Kurti - a Then and Now coffee table book about Disneyland.

91. The Haunted Mansion: Imagineering a Disney Classic by Jason Surrell - I love the Haunted Mansion.  This details the story behind builiding the one at Disneyland, and how the Haunted Mansion plays out in the other parks.  It also cemented my need to see Disneyland Paris.

92. Cara's Kindness by Kristi Yamguchi (signed copy) - Cute kid's book about passing on kindness and helping each other out.

I also read Haunted Highways (a collection of paranormal/legends) and a Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys SuperMystery (80s/90s), Dangerous Games.  We're currently reading MORE Cherry Ames.

Did you read the edition of _A Little Princess_ with the Tasha Tudor illustrations? She also did _The Secret Garden_. Those are the editions I've imprinted on.
